About

Hannah Scout Dunaway is an independent filmmaker based in Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a major in Film & Video Production and a minor in Theatre Arts. While at college, Hannah worked on over 60 projects and began her freelance career as an MUA & Art Assistant.

Dunaway directed three short films while at GVSU, and with that came Future Corpse Productions. Her first film, Gorge, a body horror short about eating disorders, won the audience vote at Wealthy Theatre’s Open Project Night. Milly, her senior thesis film, played OPN & Capital City Film Festival.

While in school, Hannah worked as the Art Director and Assistant Project Manager for the GVSU Promotions Office, gaining experience with client work and large-scale set design. She also worked at Production Support Resources at GVSU, the on campus equipment rental house for Film, Photography, and Journalism Majors.

Hannah worked on two Grand Valley Summer Film Projects while in school: a 6-week summer course designed to be a filmmaking bootcamp helmed by industry professionals. She served as the Special Effects Artist and Prop Fabricator on Joel Potrykus’ Unemployees. The following summer, Dunaway worked as the Production Designer and Special Effects Artist on Pear (Dir. Joel Potrykus).

Hannah is an advocate for Midwest & Michigan filmmaking. In her senior year of college, she spoke at a Michigan Congressional Committee Hearing as a student representative for MIFIA (Michigan Film Industry Association) in support of the Multimedia Jobs Act. She has been featured on multiple panels about filmmaking in West Michigan, including CreativeMorningsGR and CultureWorks.
